Bob Beatrice - Athletic Director, Head Coach- Girls’ FR/JV/Varsity Volleyball, Head Coach- MS Volleyball, Head Coach- Girls’ Varsity Basketball, Head Coach- MS Girls’ Basketball, Head Coach- Varsity Baseball

Coach Beatrice is in his 15th year at Crossroads College Prep and has had a great deal of success in the SCAA. His teams have won five conference championships and have been the runner-up in a number of District Championship games. The teams that he puts on the court and field have a reputation for being aggressive and fast-paced, and play with a great deal of passion and energy. Bob played college baseball at The Catholic University of America. He served as the Assistant General Manager of the New York Yankees Class A affiliate in Virginia and has coached college baseball at East Stroudsburg University. Coach Beatrice spent nine years at the prestigious Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC, where he served as a football, basketball and baseball coach. He also currently is the Commissioner of the South Central Athletic Association.

Devin McMahon - Head Coach- Girls’ Tennis, Head Coach- Girls’ JV Basketball

Coach McMahon is a Crossroads College Prep graduate who played college tennis at Quincy University. Devin was the #1 singles player at Crossroads during her career. She served as an Assistant Coach for the 2010 and 2011 District Championship teams at Crossroads, and then took over as the Head Coach to win back to back District Championships in 2012 and 2013. Devin has spent the past four years as the Girls’ JV Basketball Coach, while also serving as an assistant for Coach Beatrice with the Varsity.

Stephen Abdul-Hamid - Head Coach- Boys’ Varsity Basketball

Coach Abdul-Hamid will be beginning his fifth season as Head Coach of the Current. Coach Abdul Hamid played basketball at Northwest High school here in St. Louis before heading off to play college ball at New Mexico State and Wichita State. Coach has worked at Northwest High School, run a successful AAU program (St. Louis Blazers) and coached at MICDS. One of his sons , Mustafa, played basketball at MICDS and UCLA. He is now playing professionally overseas. Coach Abdul-Hamid runs a disciplined system that brings out the best in all of his players. He is stern yet fair with his players and strongly believes that basketball is an opportunity to improve the character of young men and helps prepare them for real life situations. Coach has captured one District Championship in his tenure as Head Coach.

Ben Birch - Head Coach- Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Soccer

Coach Birch has been working with the soccer program at Crossroads for the past five years in a number of capacities. He has run our Middle School program and served as an Assistant Coach for the Varsity. Ben is currently in his second season as the Boys’ Varsity Head Coach and will begin his third season with the girls this spring. Coach Birch played college soccer at the University of Missouri-Rolla and has been, and continues to, coach youth soccer in the St. Louis area. Under his leadership, his teams have won three SCAA titles and one District Championship team.

Mike Pomatto - Head Coach- Boys’ MS Basketball and Baseball, Head- Coach Boys’ JV Basketball

Coach Pomatto joins the Crossroads’ staff this year after many successful years at other high schools. He has coached a number of sports in his 23 years he has been an educator. Mike served as the Head Baseball Coach at Marshall High School in Illinois, and at Whitfield School. He was also the Head Boys’ JV Basketball Coach at St. Bede Academy as well as Whitfield. Before moving to St. Louis, he coached football and served as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. We are very excited to welcome Coach Pomatto to Crossroads College Prep Athletic Department.

Liz Bartley - Head Coach- Boys’ and Girls’ MS Soccer

Coach Bartley is a Crossroads graduate who attended Beloit College in Wisconsin and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English (Literary Studies with a Creative Writing Minor). After graduating college, Liz started coaching soccer collegiately. She started the program at St. Xavier University, and also coached at Northern Illinois University and Youngstown State University. She returned to Beloit to become the Head Woman’s Soccer Coach. Coach Bartley returned to St. Louis and has been coaching intermittently at Crossroads, both at the high school and middle school levels.
