Crossroads College Prep Musicians Jazz It Up at the Phi Mu Alpha Jazz Festival

On February 27th, 2010, members of the Crossroads College Preparatory School Music Program performed and competed against over 30 schools at the 42nd Annual Phi Mu Alpha Jazz Festival at Truman State University. The Crossroads College Prep performing group, “Electric Sole,” placed 2nd in the Combo Division and the Crossroads College Prep Jazz Ensemble placed 1st in Class 2A.  Chris Gatewood ’12 was awarded the Outstanding Soloist Award in Class 2A, and Cheree Mills ‘10, Emma Silver ‘10, Robert Don ‘11, Regi Drake ‘11, and Mia Watkins ‘12 all received Outstanding Soloist Awards.


The festival has become one of the larger events of its kind, attracting high school and middle school bands throughout the Midwest.  This “Jazz Fest” includes an all-day competition for combos and ensembles, several clinics, workshops, and an evening concert.
