Crossroads College Preparatory School Mission Statement

Crossroads College Preparatory School offers an academically challenging curriculum to a diverse and inclusive community of students in grades seven through twelve.

Crossroads College Prep encourages its students to engage their imaginations in every endeavor, ranging from the sciences to the fine arts, and strives to develop respectful citizens, who apply scholarship, imagination, and critical thinking to civic and social responsibility in their communities and beyond.

Crossroads College Preparatory School’s admission and financial aid policies do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, or ethnic origin.

The Application Process at Crossroads College Prep requires five steps:

School Visit:

Prospective students are required to schedule a half-day, morning visit to Crossroads College Preparatory School. Visits will be arranged on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Prospective students are paired with a current student and visit a number of classes.  Student visits must be scheduled ahead of time through the Admissions Office (314) 367-8101.  A prospective student may visit at any time during the application process.  It is not necessary to have a completed application on file with the school prior to scheduling a visit.  All student visits must be completed by January 31, 2011.  Rolling Admission will begin in early April for late applicants.

Application:

The admission process begins once the parent and student section of the ISSL standard application or SAO (Standard Application Online) is completed and submitted, either on paper or electronically.  If you wish to apply online, please visit http://www.ssat.org/ssat/apply/apply-appservice.html.  The Admissions Office would also be happy to send you a paper copy of the application. An application will not be processed unless the $40 application fee accompanies it.  Applications are accepted beginning in September and are considered until the deadline in January the year prior to entry.

The deadline for applications for the 2011-2012 school year is January 21, 2011.  School records, transcripts, and test scores are also due at that time.  Applicants will be informed of admission decisions by March 10, 2011, and will be required to submit a contract and deposit by April 4, 2011.  Ninth grade applicants will be notified on February 4, 2011 if all admissions materials are received by the application deadline. Financial aid determinations will be included in the parent decision letter.  Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis after the deadline in January if space is available in that grade level.

Parent Tour/Meeting:

Parents of prospective students are also required to schedule a time to tour the school and meet with the Director of Admission and Head of School.  Parent visits must be scheduled ahead of time through the Admissions Office (314) 367-8101.  Similar to the student visit, it is not necessary to have an application on file prior to scheduling a parent visit.

SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test):

In order to reduce the amount of tests taken at different schools, Crossroads College Prep accepts the SSAT. The SSAT Test is administered at various times during the admission season at several locations.   A student may take the test at any test site.  To register or find out more details about the composition of the test, please visit the www.ssat.org. We are happy to provide registration information to you as well. Please call to have the information sent to you.

Crossroads College Prep will host the test on Saturday, December 11, 2010 (register by November 19) and on Saturday, January 8, 2011 (register by December 17, 2010). We recommend that students take the test by the end of January to ensure quick processing and timely admissions decisions. To ensure that Crossroads College Prep gets a copy of your child's scores, please fill in school code 2672.

Academic Records and Recommendations:

Please complete the Academic Records Form and submit it to your child’s current school.  All transcripts and school records must be mailed directly from the school to Crossroads College Preparatory School.  Crossroads College Prep will not accept any hand delivered or unofficial transcripts.  Information such as health records, standardized tests scores, and any other information part of the permanent record should be mailed along with the student’s grades.  This form should be given to the school at the end of the semester, but before mid-January to ensure sufficient processing time. All applicants are required to provide at least three years of records. If a student has switched schools in the recent past, an Academic Record Form may need to be submitted to each individual school. We also require two academic recommendations of your choice (English teacher, math teacher, or School Principal/Counselor). These forms are found in the application.

Crossroads College Preparatory School requires one non-academic letter of recommendation.  This letter should come from an individual who knows the student outside of the classroom.  This could come from a religious leader, scout leader, music instructor, dance teacher, camp counselor, etc.  The non-academic recommendation does not need to follow the same format as the one provided in the Standard Application.  It should be in the form of a letter (mailed to Crossroads College Prep, Attn: Admissions Office) or e-mailed to info@crossroadscollegeprep.org.
